In the quilting community, folks tend to fall into one of two camps: those who love binding a quilt by hand and those who dread it. I am definitely Team Love It. Since I keep very few of the quilts I make, hand binding is, for me, a very slow, sweet time of saying good-bye. I get to wrap myself up in it, rub my fingers along the quilting lines, and enjoy the full graphic nature of the top I painstakingly constructed. I am a busy-hands, quiet mind kind of gal, and I find that I really enjoy how the process slows me down and I can be alone with my thoughts, listen to a podcast, watch a football game, or listen to my children chatter about their day while I stitch. It's a good thing I like this part, because I'm definitely going to be spending some quality time here... this bad boy is 102"x102"! That's a lot of binding, whew!
