Pinkie promise

Checking one off my Finish-a-long list! Here is my delightfully pink baby quilt: Pinkie Promise! This shade of pink always reminds me of my daughter; she is a VERY big fan of pink.

This quilt is an oversized courthouse steps quilt block assembled using 2.5" strips of fabrics in assorted pinks and low volume fabrics. You'll see some Denyse Schmidt, Carolyn Friedlander, Alison Glass, and quite a few Art Gallery Fabrics tossed into the mix. Quilt finishes at roughly 38" square making it a great size for tossing over a car seat to protect baby from sun, cold, or prying eyes ("No, you can't make adoring eyes at baby, she's snoozing in her car seat now, thank you very much").

Tossing a quilt down on the floor was my go-to for tummy time when my kiddos were babies. The quilt protected my carpet from any unfortunate incidents... ahem, and it was easy to toss it in the wash to be ready for the next play time.

I quilted in the ditch using a cotton thread in variegated pinks. I love the texture it gives while not distracting from the graphic nature of the top.

Backing is a Joel Dewberry print from his True Colors line, if I am remembering correctly.

Bound in Kona Pomegranate, my most favorite shade of pink.

This quilt was a fun and quick finish!
